The 10am and 11am sessions will teach participants learn 5 vital personal finance concepts and help participants create an executable plan for reaching the financial goals she sets for herself.

National Day of Service 2016

This year I am proud to be doing my Day of Service with the Los Angeles Urban League Young Professionals. The National Society of Black Engineers, the Los Angeles Urban League and Northrop Grumman have come together to host the Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead Conference. The conference will take place Saturday, April 23rd at Alain LeRoy Locke College Preparatory Academy.

Start Small Think Big Conference

Guess what I did yesterday? I presented at the Start Small Think Big Conference in Los Angeles! I was fortunate to work with South LA Saves and a host of other wonderful non-profits, businesses and organizations to provide financial education to the south Los Angeles community.

Besides speakers there were informational tables and the winners from the poster contest were announced!

Students were instructed to draw a photo about being a super saver.

Each winner received a recognition award, a monetary prize and a piggy bank (provided by Bigger Than Your Block) with separate compartments for saving, investing, spending and charity.

Purple Project’s 2nd Annual Youth & Adult Foster Care Conference

The conference was amazing! Students and adults came together for three days to hear from foster care alumni, learn life skills, network with other foster care youth and alumni, and have fun.

Purple Project

I’m really excited about speaking at The Second Annual Youth & Adult Foster Care Conference from The Purple Project. As you know, I was in foster care from 13 years old to 17 years old. That time in my life shaped many of my core values so I’ve decided to write a book about it. “All My Mistakes: Money tips for kids in care” will be published June 2011.

$1,000 for Student Volunteers at Conference and Trade Show in Boston

Ten $1,000 Student Student volunteers and scholarship applicants are needed for the 84th Annual Conference & Trade Show in Boston, MA, which will take place July 24-28, 2009.  Attending and volunteering at the Annual Conference & Trade Show is an invaluable experience for students to learn from and network with industry professionals.  All students who volunteer will receive full conference registration.  IAAM Foundation Student Scholarships are a great way to further offset trip expenses.  This year up to 10 student scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each will be awarded.
